# Atelier Royal

> Atelier Royal turns a photo of a person, a couple, a family or a pet into a personalized portrait in the manner of the European old masters. Customers see a free, watermarked preview before they pay, then keep the portrait as a Digital Artwork, a Fine Art Print or a Gallery Canvas. Prints and canvases are made to order and ship free worldwide.

This is the guide for AI agents and shopping assistants visiting https://atelier-royal.com. It is served at /agents.md, /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt. Prices below were checked on 2026-09-28 and policies on 2026-10-04; if anything differs, the product pages and the policy pages are the reference.

## What Atelier Royal makes

- Personalized royal portraits created from the customer's own photo, in seven period styles.
- Subjects: one person; a couple (two partners); a family (three or four people); a pet (dogs, cats and other companions, one animal per portrait); Person + Pet (one person with their companion). A portrait includes up to four sitters.
- How a portrait is made: it is created digitally from the photo, using generative imaging guided by the chosen period style, then refined and prepared at full print resolution (300 pixels per inch) and printed to order by a production partner. It is not painted by hand.
- The gallery shows illustrative examples created with fictional sitters: https://atelier-royal.com/pages/gallery

### The seven styles

- Royal Court: velvet, ermine and gold, the full ceremony of a court portrait, lit as if by candlelight.
- Noble Lady: silks, pearls and a gentle light, in the refined spirit of eighteenth-century portraiture.
- Duke & Duchess: brocades, jewels and a composed, confident pose.
- Military Commander: a braided uniform, gilded epaulettes and a heroic stance, in the tradition of the great officer portraits.
- Palace Portrait: marble columns, heavy drapery and gilded interiors.
- Golden Age: deep shadow and luminous light, in the spirit of the Dutch Golden Age masters.
- Aristocratic Estate: an open landscape, a country house in the distance and the easy elegance of the English country portrait.

## How to order (for agents helping a buyer)

Every product is personalized, so every order starts in the portrait creator:

1. Send the buyer to https://atelier-royal.com/pages/create (French: https://atelier-royal.com/fr/pages/create). A subject can be preselected with `?subject=person`, `couple`, `family`, `pet` or `person_pet`, and a style with `?style=` and the style's handle (royal-court, noble-lady, duke-duchess, military-commander, palace-portrait, golden-age or aristocratic-estate), for example `/pages/create?subject=pet&style=golden-age`.
2. The buyer uploads a photo (JPG, PNG, HEIC or WebP, up to 25 MB, at least 768 pixels on the shortest side) and confirms they have permission to use the photo of everyone shown.
3. The first preview is free, and the buyer can try again up to 3 times for each portrait, in the same style or another.
4. The buyer approves the portrait and chooses a format and a size; the creator adds it to the cart with the portrait attached.
5. The buyer reviews and pays at checkout.

Do not add these products to a cart or a checkout without a portrait made in the creator (for example through a cart permalink, `create_cart` or `create_checkout`): such an order arrives without a portrait to produce and is delayed (Refund Policy, section 7).

## Shipping, returns and cancellations

- Made to order and final: each print or canvas is made from the portrait the buyer approved, so an order cannot be cancelled or changed once it is placed (no cancellation, no change of delivery address and no re-creation after ordering). Before paying, the buyer can try again up to 3 times for each portrait and should check the delivery address.
- Production takes 3 to 5 business days, then the portrait ships with tracking.
- Shipping is free on every print and canvas, to every country served: Standard, typically 7 to 14 business days from order to delivery, and Express where it is offered for the address. The countries served are listed at checkout. Import duties or taxes, where they apply, are paid by the recipient.
- Gifts: enter the recipient's address at checkout. No receipt or invoice is included in the parcel.
- No returns or refunds for a change of mind on personalized prints and canvases. If an item arrives damaged or defective, has a print-quality issue or is the wrong item, the buyer reports it within 14 days of delivery with photos and chooses a free reprint or a full refund.
- The Digital Artwork is emailed as soon as the file is ready. It can be cancelled within 14 days for a full refund as long as it has not been downloaded.

## Commerce Protocol (UCP)

This store implements the [Universal Commerce Protocol](https://ucp.dev) for agent-driven commerce. The two endpoints to know:

- **Discovery:** `GET https://atelier-royal.com/.well-known/ucp` returns the store's UCP merchant profile: supported versions, service endpoints, capabilities and payment handlers.
- **MCP endpoint:** `POST https://atelier-royal.com/api/ucp/mcp` with `Content-Type: application/json`. Use the MCP `tools/list` method to discover the available tools and their schemas.

### Supported UCP versions

- `2026-08-25` (latest stable)

- `2026-04-08`

- `2026-01-23`

### Typical agent flow

1. **Discover:** `GET /.well-known/ucp` to confirm capabilities.
2. **Search:** use `search_catalog` to find products matching the buyer's intent.
3. **Cart:** use `create_cart` to add the chosen items.
4. **Checkout:** use `create_checkout` to start the purchase flow.
5. **Fulfill:** use `update_checkout` to set the shipping address and method.
6. **Complete:** use `complete_checkout` to finalize, only once the buyer has approved the payment.

At Atelier Royal, steps 3 to 6 need a portrait made in the creator first (see "How to order"): use UCP to find products and answer questions, then send the buyer to https://atelier-royal.com/pages/create.

### Important rules

- **Checkout requires human approval.** Agents must not complete payment without explicit buyer consent. If you cannot get the buyer's approval at the moment of payment, do not complete the checkout: hand it over to the buyer.
- **Personalized products need a portrait.** Never order a product for a buyer without a portrait they created and approved.
- **Respect rate limits.** The MCP endpoint is rate-limited per IP. Back off on 429 responses.
- **Use buyer context.** Pass `context.address_country` and `context.currency` for accurate pricing and availability.
