Fine Art Print vs Canvas: Which Is Right for Your Portrait?
Fine detail and a frame of your choice, or painterly texture ready for the wall? How to choose between print, canvas and digital, with sizes for...
Atelier Royal
A custom couple portrait worthy of your story, for an anniversary, a wedding or a Valentine's Day they will never forget. Turn your photos into a royal old-master portrait, and see it before you pay.
The styles
Each style dresses you both for its own age: brocades and jewels for Duke & Duchess, a gilded salon for Palace Portrait, an English park for Aristocratic Estate. Choose one now. You can always try another before you order.
Velvet, ermine and gold: the full ceremony of a court portrait, lit as if by candlelight.
Silks, pearls and a gentle light, in the refined spirit of eighteenth-century portraiture.
Brocades, jewels and a composed, confident pose: nobility at its most assured.
A braided uniform, gilded epaulettes and a heroic stance, in the tradition of the great officer portraits.
Marble columns, heavy drapery and gilded interiors: a portrait set within the grandeur of a palace.
Deep shadow and luminous light, in the spirit of the Dutch Golden Age masters.
An open landscape, a country house in the distance and the easy elegance of the English country portrait.
The gallery
Couples first, then the rest of the atelier: every portrait here was created with fictional sitters, as an illustrative example.

Choosing the photo
For a couple portrait, upload one photo of the two of you, or two separate photos. One photo works best when you both face the camera, your faces are of a similar size and neither is half-hidden. Separate photos are the better choice when your only picture together was taken from afar: choose two with similar light, as if you had sat for the painter on the same afternoon.
A wedding photo, a holiday snapshot or a picture from your first years together can all work, as long as both faces are clear. After you upload, we check that we can see both faces and tell you if a sharper or brighter photo would help. More advice in our guide to choosing a photo for a custom portrait.
Questions
Yes. Choose Couple, then upload one photo of the two of you or one photo of each. Separate photos give the best result when their light and angle are similar. Please make sure you have your partner's permission to use their photo: we ask you to confirm it before uploading.
Every print and canvas is made to order: production takes 3 to 5 business days, and most Standard orders arrive within 7 to 14 business days in total, with free shipping. Delivery times are estimates, so allow a little extra time before a special date. If the day is close, the Digital Artwork is sent by email shortly after your order, ready to share.
Yes: to your partner, or to parents, grandparents or friends for their anniversary. Upload their photo with their permission and approve the portrait yourself. Then enter their address at checkout: we ship it straight to them, free on every print and canvas, and no receipt or invoice is included in the parcel.
Duke & Duchess, with its brocades, jewels and composed pose, is a natural choice for two. Palace Portrait sets you in a gilded salon, Noble Lady in silks and pearls, and Aristocratic Estate outdoors, before a country house. Your first preview is free, and you can try up to 3 more times for each portrait, in the same style or another.
A couple portrait brings together two people, without pets. To appear with your dog or cat, choose Person + Pet: one person and their companion, together in one portrait.
A gallery canvas above the bed or the mantelpiece, a fine art print for the frame of your choice, or the Digital Artwork to share on the day.
