Questions
Before you commission your pet's portrait
Which photo of my pet works best?
A sharp, well-lit photo taken at your pet's eye level, with the eyes and both ears in view. After you upload, we check the photo and tell you if a sharper or brighter one would give a better result.
Can I be in the portrait with my pet?
Yes. Choose Person + Pet: you and your companion together in one portrait, from one photo of you both or two separate photos.
Is it a Renaissance pet portrait?
It is what most people mean by one: your pet in period dress, in the manner of the old masters. Our seven styles draw on baroque, Dutch Golden Age, eighteenth-century and Napoleonic portraiture, from the velvet and ermine of Royal Court to the braided uniform of Military Commander.
Can you portray a cat, a rabbit or another animal?
Yes: dogs, cats and other companions. Each pet portrait is created from one photo of one animal.
Can you create a portrait of a pet who has passed away?
Yes, from a cherished photo, including a good scan of a printed one. Our memorial portraits page explains how we approach it.
